Definition of cleansing cream:-
The substance which apply to skin to clean skin and help to remove makeup it is called as cleansing cream.
The cleansing cream is also called as night cream.
What is the cleaning cream?
Originally cleansing creams are applied to the skin & only wiped off but with the need for cream which can be rinsed off. to make them more convenient to use the dual use type which can be either wiped or rinsed off is now one of the market. In the order to prevent any sticky feeling remaining after washing off, the proportion of solid and semi solid which has been reduced.
Types of Emulsion:-
Mainly both emulsions ( oil in water and water in oil) are used in the formulation depending upon the quantity of oil phase components and water phase but today we will discuss about the oil in water type emulsion because mainly oil in water type emulsions are mostly use in society.
Compositions of cleansing cream:-
Oils, Humectants, Surfactants, Alkalies, Preservatives, Antioxidants, perfumes & Purified water.

Manufacturing procedure of cleansing cream:-
- Add humectants and alkali to the purified water and heat up to 70°c to make the water phase.
- After heating the oil component ingredients together to make a solution add the surfactants, preservatives and antioxidants and perfumes and Keep heating to the 70°c.
- Gradually add this to the water phase to carry out the preliminary Emulsification after making the solution particles uniform size in a homomixer.
- Then filter, cool and keep it in well closed container
Uses of ingredients:-
Stearic acid:- stearic acid is the higher fatty acid. Stearic acid is used as a emulsifier to react with soap to form the reaction.
Cetyl alcohol:- cetyl alcohol is oil composition. Cetyl alcohol is used as emollient and used to moisturise the skin.
Petrolatum:- petrolatum is used to reduce the moisture loss and soften the skin.
Liquid paraffin:- liquid paraffin is used as a stimulant and helps to stimulates the blood circulation.
Propylene glycol:- propylene glycol is humectant mainly used to reduce the moisture loss.
Glycerin monostearate:- glycerin monostearate is surfactant used as a emulsifier and provides the cleansing properties.
PoE (20) Sorbitan Monostearate:- PoE (20) Sorbitan monostearate is used as emulsifier and provides waiting properties.
Potassium hydroxide:- potassium hydroxide is Alkali used to make Emulsification reaction and helps clean the skin.
Methyl & propyl paraben :- methyl and propyl paraben both are preservatives used to protect against external factors.
Uses of cleansing cream:-
- Cleansing cream is mainly use remove the makeups.
- Cleansing cream is used to remove dust particles.
- Cleansing cream is used to moisturise the skin.
- Cleansing cream also helps to remove dead cells.
- Cleansing cream is also helps to keep skin smooth and helps to stimulate blood circulation.
How to use cleansing cream?
Take some amount of cream and mix it with water to make smooth paste and apply thinly on the cracked, dry and normal skin.
cleansing cream for oily skin:-
Cleansing cream is one of the most important type of Night cream. It helps to produce more oil and usually the oily skin already produce more oil and after using cleansing cream the skin becomes more oily so cleansing cream is not for oily skin.
